Running your guitar and stomp-box through always-on effect pedals
Using your M5 active stompbox to run the blended stomp signal and guitar signal through an always-on effect like reverb, or delay is an effective way to make use of limited inputs on the back of an amp, FR speaker or directly into a mixer. The volume can be balanced between your stomp and the guitar via the guitars instrument volume, then overall gain / volume (and tone shaping ) is adjusted on the always-on FX pedal before going to the amplifier.
You can also get some great results running the stomp/guitar signal through a compressor, or a pitch shifting pedal. A bass FX is a useful one to try with the stomp plus guitar signal too. Pumping up the sub-bass frequencies creates a rumbly stomp effect whilst not effecting the guitar, whilst adjusting the higher freqs provide an inherent sonic separation between stomp and guitar in the mix.
