The Rhyth-Mic M5 is unique in offering several highly useful functions for a compact analogue stompbox (especially at this price!):
It can be used passively, without external power. In this mode, you can simply 'plug and play' into a single amplifier, or run 2 outputs - for example into 2 amplifiers, recording device, mixing desk, monitor, effects unit etc. This is also useful should your power supply fail.
When connected to a standard 9v pedal power unit, the stomp's signal and bass is boosted as you would expect. However, the 'passive' output now also operates as an input for another instrument - eg. your guitar or bass. Running in this mode, it is possible to plug your guitar / bass / ukulele etc into the stomp, then directly into your amplifier, thus blending both signals.
This is a traditional wedge shape stomp box. It is constructed from solid European oak. This model features a hard-wearing wood body, internal microphone, laser etched 'Rhyth-Mic' branding and grippy rubber feet.
Furthermore, the M5 has several features that have been designed to provide an excellent bass response:
It uses an internally suspended dynamic microphone (unlike many rhythm boxes, which use piezo pickups that are not optimised to reproduce bass frequencies). The onboard mic on the M5 is mounted within its own sound-chamber in such a way that the inherent bassiness of the wood is brought out.
Mounting chunky rubber feet to the base ensures a stable platform that keeps it in place on carpet or solid floor. We find that these feet enhance bass, and remove the treble from the vibrations reflected back from the ground - to put it another way, the onboard mic picks up the bass elements of the sound you make when you stamp your feet on the floor.
This is a uniquely featured compact design. It weighs less than 350g, and is only 9.5cm x 11cm and 5cm tall, meaning it'll fit in any gig bag with ease.
To be clear, however, it does need to be plugged into an amplifier to work. Bigger speakers make for better bass.
Make Rhyth-Mic the heartbeat of your performance...
